Managing Your Strengths

We all have strengths and weaknesses. Success comes from strengths. Failure, on the other hand, comes from doing what we are not good at.

If you wan to succeed in your life, use your strengths, not your weaknesses, to get what you want.

To manage your strengths, according to Robert E. Kaplan and Robert B. Kaiser, ‘… is to accept them. If you literally don’t know your own strengths, you have no way to calibrate or modulate it.’

‘… to stop overplaying your strengths does not mean … to stop using it. It means using the strength more selectively.’

overusing one’s strength not only corrupts the strength, but it begets weakness in yet another way.’

Leaders who develop versatility don’t lose their range, they embrace it.’

Versatility requires knowing when a certain approach is appropriate and when it is not.’

‘You best chance of making change stick is to do both the outer work and the inner work of improving.’

‘… an iterative cycle of reflection and action is required to achieve lasting change: insight begets action begets insight begets action.’

Changing yourself is an admirable exercise in self-control. But it is wise to also employ counterweights- process or people- to aid your efforts.’

‘… to accept yourself is to look at yourself as if you are somebody else.’

To accept yourself is to be courageously objective about yourself, inside and out.’

When Other People Reject You, Do Not Reject Yourself

Some people will accept you for who you are, not for what you can do for them. Other people will accept you for what you have, for what you can do for them, for always giving to them.

Whether things are okay or not, whether you are winning or losing, whether you are passing or failing, if you want to experience the life that God has created for you, you must first accept yourself.

What does it mean to accept oneself? Self-acceptance is everything. You need it when things are good. You need to accept who you are when things are good, and you need to accept yourself when things are not going well. Do not reject yourself before other do it for you.

If you do not take care of yourself, if you do not know what you want in your life, people will take advantage of you. Do not let that happen. Because you are not here to be accepted by all. You are here to love yourself, to live for you. You are enough. You don’t need the whole world to love you.

You need you to love you. You need you to beat your own path forward. When things are tough, never forget to love youself. when you are alone, love yourself. When you are weak, do not reject yourself. When you are down, feeling tired, feeling exhausted, do not reject yourself. Because God loves you. He does. He will never let you down.

No matter what you are going through in your life, you can make it through. Do not focus on what is not working. Instead, focus on what you are doing to bring more light into your life.

Because life is light. Because you are the light of the world. If you want to enjoy your light, you must choose you. Don’t try to control other people. Because you can’t. But you can control yourself. If you can control yourself, you can control your life.

Before you go, remember this: ‘When other people reject you, don’t reject yourself.’
