Why You Don’t Need To Be Perfect

“To be nobody- but yourself- in a world which is doing its best, night and day, to make you everybody else- means to fight the hardest battle which any human being can fight; and never stop fighting.”- e.e. cummings, poet

Let us face it, my friends. Who is perfect? Are you perfect? Is the world a perfect place? If we really want to be honest with ourselves, the answer is NO. So if nothing is perfect, then why are we fighting for it?

I am not perfect. I make all kinds of mistakes everyday. But I am okay with that. They don’t define me. And they can’t define me. Because you are who you say you are. If you say you are perfect, regardless of where you are, what is happening around you, within you, to you, you are perfect. That is what you should be telling yourself every day.

If you say you are perfect, regardless of where you are, what is happening around you, within you, to you, you are perfect.”

When you wake up in the morning, celebrate your imperfections. Don’t worry yourself about them. Just celebrate the fact that you are imperfect. If you are completely perfect, if you have nothing to worry about, the world will be a boring place for you to live in. Perfection is boring!

If you want to grow in your life, don’t try to be perfect, try to always do your best. If you focus on being perfect, you will not enjoy anything in life, not even yourself. To overcome perfectionism, you must believe in yourself. Don’t try to be who you are not. It won’t work. And don’t let negative people talk you into ignoring your life, your purpose, your growth. In the words of e.e. Cummings, “Once we believe in ourselves, we can risk curiosity, wonder, spontaneous delight, or any experience that reveals the human spirit.” When you believe in yourself, everything will work out well for you, not against you.

The real question is: Do you have the courage to believe in yourself? e.e. Cummings said, “It takes courage to grow up and become who you really are.” To grow up in your life, you must first overcome yourself. If you have not done that, you can’t overcome the world.

Do not let perfectionism stop you from talking to me. We will fight it together. We are all in this together. You are not alone. Whatever you want to do, go for it. The more you do, the better for you. Ralph Waldo Emerson told us many years ago that “all life is an experiment. The more experiments you make the better.”

That is how we should approach our lives. If you can see life as it really is, if you can see things as they really are, you can achieve anything in your life. Again, the question is: Are you ready to love yourself as you really are? Are you ready to let go of who you think you are supposed to be? Are you ready to ignore other people’s opinions? Are you ready to stand up for yourself? Are you ready to stop creating who you are not? Are you ready to let go of negative friends? Are you ready to connect with yourself? If you are ready, the world is ready.

Don’t Let Life Discourage You

Richard L. Evans said, “Don’t let life discourage you; everyone who got where he is had to begin where he was.”

You are probably saying to yourself, “I don’t know what to do now. I have tried everything, but nothing is working? Why me? Why are things not working for me? Other people are doing really well, but I am not? Why me?

It is okay to feel the way you are feeling right now. It is normal to feel like that. But don’t let life tell you what you cannot do. Don’t let life discourage you. All you need to do is to focus on your dreams.

The world is always going to tell you what you are not good at. But let me ask you a question. Do you know what you are good at? Do you know what you are not good at? If you know, life cannot tell you anything. It is what you tell yourself that really matters. Now, my friend, what are you telling yourself on a daily basis? Are you celebrating your life? Or are you criticizing your life? If you are criticizing your life, you need to change it. But if you are celebrating your life, according to Oprah Winfrey, “You will have more to celebrate.”

Your life is yours to live, not to endure.”

Do not challenge life. Just accept it. You cannot change life. But you can change yourself by focusing on what really counts. If spending time with your friends counts, do more of it. If taking your partner to a fine restaurant counts, do more of it. If reading a good book counts, read more books. Just do what counts.

Your life is yours to live, not to endure. You deserve to live your life the way you want it. Again, do not let life discourage you. Keep living, and keep moving forward, no matter what.
