This Is What Is Holding You Back

If you are not where you are supposed to be, something is holding you back. If you are not getting the right results, something is holding you back. If you are not meeting the right people, something is responsible for not making it happen. If you are still stuck in your past, something is standing in your way. If you are not happy, something is stealing your happiness away from you.

The question is, ‘What is holding you back?’ Why are you not moving forward in your life? Why are you not where you want to be? Why are you not making progress in your career?

The truth is: You are the one holding yourself back. Stop blaming other people for your life. You are responsible for your life. You are responsible for your dreams.

No one on this planet can hold you back, but you. No one can stop you from running your race, but you.

You are not getting the right results because you are not doing the right things. You are not running your own race. You are not doing what you love to do. You are not being true to yourself. You are hiding behind perfection. You are telling yourself false stories about your life, about your situation. You are not hanging out with the right people.

You are holding yourself back because you are still living in the past. Even when life has moved on. Even when change is running faster than the fastest person in the world. You are still attached to your past failures.

You are holding yourself back because your mind is flooded with negative thoughts. You are holding yourself back because you don’t believe in what you can do. You don’t believe in yourself.

But you can change everything. You can change your life by doing the right things, by thinking the right thoughts, by hanging out with the right people. You can change your life by changing how you treat yourself.

You can move your life forward when you move forward. You can. Because nothing is holding you back. You are the one holding yourself back. If you want to change your life, you have got to change your thoughts. The question is, ‘Do you have the courage to do it?’

When Doubt Creeps In

Ask yourself, ‘What’s the worst that can happen?’

‘Don’t think about what you can’t do. Figure out what you can do. Then do it to the best of your ability.’

‘People often ask me how I have the nerve to make cold calls. First, I’m naturally curious, so I genuinely want to learn from other people. Second, people love to be asked about what they do and, generally, are eager to tell their stories.’

‘I was learning. Every day. That is how you stay fresh and motivated. Always be learning. An important lesson, for sure.’

You can do this, I said to myself. You’re smart. You can figure it out. And you can help people by helping them enjoy water.’

I’ve figured out a lot of stuff in my life. I can figure this out. And if it turns out I can’t, at least I can put this idea out there, that you can enjoy things that don’t taste sweet.’

‘… Sometimes, if you think too much about the end, you will never get past the beginning.’

‘It’s okay to admit that you have a problem or that you have no idea what you’re doing.’

‘It’s really important to bring your personal story into the brand identity. People associate the brand with a human being and that person’s story. It adds tremendous meaning and value to them.’

‘You have to have a good sense of your own strongest skills and also be willing to acknowledge where you fall a little short.’

‘Minimize risks. Always.’
