We are human beings. It is okay to worry about what you can change. It is not okay to waste your time worrying about what you cannot do anything about.

What are you worrying about? Is it what you can change? Or, is it what you cannot Change? If you can change it, worry about it. But if you cannot change a thing about it, stop worrying about it and start living your life.

What is Worry?

Norman Vincent Pearle said, “It is an unhealthy and destructive mental habit.” Worry is a mental habit. You can either maintain it or get rid of it. It is not helping you. It is hurting you. It steals your happiness away. It wastes your time. It makes you unstable in life. It causes you to make irrational decisions. It will be better for you to get rid of it.

James Allen said, “Out of a clean heart comes a clean life and a clean body.” If your heart is clean, your body, your actions, your thoughts, and your environment will be clean. What is happening to you on the outside is a reflection of what is happening in your mind. You can control your mind by controlling what you think about. If you think about negative things, you will attract negative things into your life. But if you focus on the good things that are happening around you, you will live a great life.

In the words of Leo Buscaglia, “Worry never robs tomorrow of its sorrow, it only saps today of it joy.” To live a focused life is to learn how to live in the moment. Living in the moment keeps you grounded. It helps you focus on doing the right, and the most important things. If you spend your time worrying about common things, you will miss the good things that today has in store for you.

If you want to stop worrying and start living, here is how to go about it:

Believe you can do it. The first step to getting something done is to believe in yourself. If you believe you can do it, you can. If you don’t believe you can, you cannot.

Meditate. Meditation will help you focus your mind on positive things. Replace negative thoughts with positive thoughts. Stay away from negative things, negative people. Focus your attention on what is working for you.

Surround yourself with positive people. Positive people will lift you up. Negative people will pull you down. You cannot go anywhere if you surround yourself with people who are tearing you apart. You can only do great things in life if you surround yourself with great people. If you do that, you will be great.

Write down what you are worrying about. Writing it down will allow you to analyze why you are worrying about it. When you write it down, how you are going to change it will show up in your life.

Connect within. If you want to really stop worrying about unnecessary things, you must look within. The power to stop your anxiety is within you. If you look outside for solutions, you will get nothing. The answers are within, not without. In the words of Dr. Wayne Dyer, “When a problem arises, go within. Get very quiet about it. Use it to learn something.”

Stop thinking about yourself. I am not saying you should ignore your wants and needs. That is not what I am saying. Dr. Wayne Dyer said, “You are totally free when you are able to stop thinking about yourself and your self-importance.”

Worrying does not help, it hurts. Stay positive.

Worry About What You Can Control

Why are people worrying about what they cannot control? We cannot control everything that happens to us, but we can control certain things. If you waste your precious time worrying about what you cannot control, you are not helping yourself, but hurting yourself. Stop doing that.

You cannot control all the things that are happening in our society, but you can control how you respond to them, how you think about them, and how you associate yourself with them. What is happening inside you is within your control. But what is happening outside you is beyond your power. So don’t try to control what is beyond your power. When you do that, you are putting yourself under pressure.

You can control how you respond to other people’s attitudes, but you cannot control how other people treat you. That is their own behavior, not yours.

If you want to live a stress-free life, learn to separate what you can manage from what you cannot manage. Learn to separate reality from fiction. You must also learn how to set priorities that matter to you, so that you don’t waste your time worrying about useless things.

When you fail at something, don’t worry too much about it, because you cannot change the outcome anymore. Going forward, you can control your habits- the things you do every day.

Focus your energy on things that can change your life, not things that cannot change your life. Focus on controlling your attitude, your emotions, and the treatment of things around you. Those things you can control, but the results you cannot.

Stop worrying and start living!
