To Beat Your Fears, You Must Never Give In

“There’s always an obstacle. You overcome one to find there’s another one.”- Alexander Dalgarno, British physicist

Life is not without problems and difficulties. You need them. You need to overcome them. Without overcoming your problems, you will find it difficult to get to where you want to be. Remember, problems are not here to weaken you, to defeat you, to embarrass you, but to make you a stronger, to make you a better person, to make you a smarter person. You can’t run away from obstacles. You can’t escape from problems. The best thing to do when you run into one or two is to deal with it. As Winston Churchill famously said, “Never give in, never give in, never, never, never, never, in nothing, great or small, large or petty- never give in except to convictions of honour and good sense.”

What You Must Do When Things Go Wrong

“When things go wrong, as they sometimes will, when the road you’re trudging seems all up hill, when the funds are low and debts are high, and you want to smile, but you have to sigh, when care is pressing you down a bit, Rest, if you must- but don’t you quit…. Often the goal is nearer than it seems to the faint and faltering man, often the struggler has given up, when he might have captured the victor’s cup and he learned too late, when the night slipped down, How close he was to the golden crown.”- Edgar Guest
