Life is all about learning. If you want to keep growing, you have got to keep learning. If you want to keep achieving in your life, you have got to keep learning new things, meeting new people, and exposing yourself to new ways of doing things.

Speak less, listen more, and show that you care about your team members. … Seek to understand before being understood.’

‘Problems don’t go away with time; they usually become more and more entrenched, so take them on early.’

Take the time to understand the career goals and aspirations of your team members and help them make progress toward them.’

Be cognizant of the cultural norms of your team ( their collective set of beliefs and attitudes- basically, ‘how we do things here’), so you won’t step on land mines and will know the best way to motivate them as a team.’

Work with your team members to establish a clear direction. Don’t hand them a strategy on silver platter- enlist them in the creation of the game plan.’

‘Organizations pursuing a developmental strategy focusing on strengths alone will not lead to the career ascension of their employees. Sooner or later, unaddressed developmental needs will limit the career progress of good people.’

Ensure your individual team members know how their work fits into the overall strategy of the group and furthers progress toward goals.’

When you make meaningful decisions, seek the counsel of your team, or at least share your thought process and how you arrived at your decision.’

‘In your staff meetings, reserve a little time to inform them on enterprise-level happenings.’

Don’t lead with your answer; instead, ask open-ended questions that don’t tip your hand on your perspective but instead allow your team members to explore the possibilities.’

‘As our work priorities change, our behaviors need to adapt and change as well.’

Don’t procrastinate when encountering a challenge and put off for tomorrow that which you can address today.’

How To Activate Your Drive To Achieve Success

You can achieve anything if you believe. But that is not what we do. Instead of doing what we can do, we are after what we cannot do.

‘Exposure activates curiosity.’

We are trying to change what we cannot change. We are after what others are doing, not what we can do to make our lives better.

Whether you want to hear this or not, according to Micheal Burt, ‘Nothing can change until you cut away the things that keep you stuck.’

We can prevent regret by exploring our talents and spending time working harder to match those talents with the correct work for us.’

‘When people lose the urge to fight, you can watch their progress gradually decline.’

When you distribute your talents to the world to solve big problems or bring new opportunities to people, you make yourself eligible for bigger payouts from the world.’

‘What you want to avoid is being in an environment where you don’t have to perform and are allowed to just goof off’

‘Without an environment that causes you to perform at a higher level, you contract to a place of comfort.’

You need people in your life– such as a coach, leader, mentor, or manager- who expect something from you.’

‘When you connect to your activator, you exude confidence.’

When you’re in the room with people distributing their talents at the highest levels with top levels of commitment and dedication to their craft, you have no choice to put up or shut up.’

Don’t allow yourself to fall complacent into believing that where you are is as big as you will ever get. Train your mind to be open to new people, new experiences, and better ways of operating.’

With persistence, the passion for the goal must be present, and there must be a consistency that you cultivate that takes an action and converts it to a habit.’

You must have a desire to move from pretending to contending. You need to want to do something big in order to actually do something big. To make this happen, you must remove the low-value activities you currently spend your time participating in.’
