Rob Jolles On Building Credibility From The Inside Out

‘It’s not the words; it’s the tune.’

‘We can’t get others to believe us because we don’t believe ourselves.’

‘Most people are unable to see themselves as others see them.’

‘We can control our effort, but we cannot control our outcome.’

‘Our imperfections- and our ability to deal outside our comfort zone- are what truly impress people.’

‘Asking questions and listening are the most important ways to communicate.’

‘It’s not the words that often betray us rather the spaces between them.’

‘People don’t want to see how perfect you are; they want to see how human you are.’

‘The person who is talking is usually not the one controlling the conversation.’

‘It isn’t nearly as difficult to ask someone to believe you when you believe you.’

‘The words may open the door to others’ believing you, but the tune helps you pass through it.’

‘Never confuse what may feel stale to you with what appears to others as polish.’

‘We are far more believable to others when we believe in ourselves.’

‘Confidence is not conceit.’

‘Shine in the light of your natural and celebrated skills while working on your off-hand.’

‘The finishing touches are what transform our projects from good to great.’

You Are Still On Your Journey

It is your journey. Be present for each step of your journey. If you really want it, then be there.

It is not going to be easy. But be there. Stay with it. What you want is possible, but you must be willing to do the work.

Stop talking about it. Start doing the real work, the work that you are supposed to be doing. The work that has the power to move you closer to where you want to be.

Do not give up. Do not stop. But you can take a break. You can slow down, but do not stop chasing your destination. It is there. It is staring at you. Yes, it is not going to be easy.

Some things are going to be better than others. Some things are going to be harder than others. That is okay. Because your dream is not meant to be easy.

Just because it is taking longer than you expected, it does not mean you are done, that you have lost your way. No, you have not. You are still doing, still grinding, still chasing, still dreaming.

When the going gets really tough, do not stop. Relax a little bit, but not too long. Be present. Believe that where you are going is worth your time, your work, your focus. Get ready to work. Because you do not know how long it is going to take you to get there.

Whatever is trying to delay your progress, just know that it is part of the game. Do not ignore it. Do not pretend it is not there. Do something about it. If you ignore something, it is going to get worse, not better. Do not ignore what you want. Go for the journey.
