Your career is yours. Take care of it. If you are not happy with it, you are not stuck. Because you have the power to change your path.

According to Jon Acuff, ‘Careers are built or broken on how we invest in them.’

‘Careers are only difficult because they are constantly changing and we are not.’

‘You don’t know who you know unless you spend deliberate time focusing on your relationships.’

Don’t look for foes who will confirm your fears that you’re not qualified for a Do Over. You are qualified.’

‘A friend is someone you share your day with. An advocate is someone you shape your career path.’

Apologize when you should, repair what you can and leave behind what you must.’

You have more skills than you think. Writing them down and looking for patterns is a great way to discover that.’

‘Great people surround themselves with greater people who challenge and stretch them.’

Don’t let fear hide a skill you’ve always had or wanted to pursue. Just because you’re afraid of doing something doesn’t mean you shouldn’t.’

Attitude is a skill too. If you want a better job, start with a better attitude.’

‘Your career will become extinct unless you learn new skills.’

‘If you want to learn a new skill, give yourself permission to be a tourist, not an instant expert.’

‘If you want to win in the future, sometimes you have to look to the past.’

Big dreams take other people. So does learning something new. Find someone from your relationship note cards to help you.’

‘To stay sharp, hone current skills through repetition and grow new ones through innovation.’

‘Relationships get you the first gig and skills get you the second. Character helps ensure that if you fail you’ll get another shot and if you succeed you won’t get drunk on ego.’

‘The world is not running out of opportunities; ignore fear when it tells you to be greedy.’

Generosity is always cheaper than greed. Count the true cost of what’s at stake when you make decisions.’

Care about what the people you care about care about. Figure that out faster by reading less minds and asking more questions.’

Grit is a choice, not a feeling. Don’t wait until you feel brave to hustle. Choose to hustle until you feel brave.’

Hustle is a scalpel. Use it to remove things from your life, not to add things.’

Purpose is often a by-product of hustle, not a prerequisite. Don’t wait for a perfect purpose. Use hustle as a way to find the next one.’
