The Things That Matter

‘The things you care about

are the things that break your heart

are the things that give rise to excellence

and fill your life with meaning and joy.’- Brad Stulberg

When we care so much about something, no matter what it is, we will do things to keep it alive, to make it work, to bring it to life.

What we care about makes us feel special about ourselves. That is why you should pay attention to what makes you come alive, to what makes you really special, to what bring out the best in yourself.

Remember that it is not what you are doing that matters. It is how you feel about it that matters.

What you care about is the same thing that is going to make you unhappy when it is not working out.

And when you care about something, you have something to live for. When you care about other people, you put prople first.

When you care about yourself, you love yourself even more; you respect yourself even more.

No matter what is going on in your life, NEVER forget to take care of yourself. Because you matter.

If you do not want something to touch you, do not support it. Plant what you want to experience.

If you care about happiness, then plant the seeds of happiness. Because ‘Happiness isn’t found; it’s what we make ritual, what becomes routine. It’s not luck, it’s discipline. Plant where you want to root. It will be uncomfortable to break out of the seed either way.’

Do not plant what you do not want to eat. Because if you do, you can’t run away from the results.

‘Trust that life loves you enough to break your heart if it means saving your soul.’ Life is not your enemy. Life is your friend. But a very tough friend.

‘Some people show you what’s possible if you keep going, and others show you what’s possible if you give up.’

Whether you know where you are going or not, it is better to keep moving. Life is about getting things done. If you are not doing, you are not moving.

‘You do not have to instruct a flower to bloom. You do not have to tell it how to root. You do not have to wish for it to sprout, you do not have to affirm that it will continue to reach toward the sun. You do not have to fear that it will not grow. You only have to arrange the environment so that growth is the inevitable outcome.’

If where you are right now is not supporting your growth, do not stay. If you stay, you are wasting your time.

Your ability to create resides in the millisecond that is right in front of you. The more time you spend fixated on what’s way behind or far ahead, the more you surrender your power. More of your life slips away.’

Life is not easy. But you can make things happen. To get things done, you have got to keep your power.
