To let in, you must first let out. If you want to live well, if you want to be happier, letting go is the way. To invite happiness into your life, you must let go of negative thoughts. To invite more love into your life, you must think love thoughts. To connect with yourself, you must let go of anger, hate, greed, jealousy, lust, fear, and unpleasant feelings.

Letting go heals. It transforms your life. It frees you. You let go of negative things because you want to free yourself. In order to really connect with your soul, you must practice the art of letting go. Sometimes you want to let go, but your ego says ‘don’t do it.’ Remember that you cannot live a better life without first destroying your ego. If you want to move forward in your life, you must destroy your ego. You must destroy your enemy: EGO. Detach from your ego and you will be free. In his book Joy on Demand: The Art of Discovering the Happiness Within, Chade-Meng Tan writes, “A person suffering from greed, hatred, anxiety, fear, lust, or other afflictive mental state is like she is holding a peace of burning hot coal in her hand. The solution? Just open the hand and let go of the hot coal.” Is it going to be easy, no. But you can do it.

We Are One

We are one. You know people better when you open your mind. You can’t know people from a distance. If you want to know people, or you want people to know you, it is your responsibility to reach out to them. Don’t live in isolation. People want to meet you. But they cannot do it without your own consent. Open your mind to receive love, happiness, peace, joy, and care from other people. Why is that? Because we are one.

We are social animals. Human beings are not created to live alone. We are created to live together, to work together, to love together, to cry together, to mourn together, to study together, to party together, to travel together, to vote together. As philosopher Pierre Teilhard de Chardin once said, “We are one, after all, you and I. Together we suffer, together exist, and forever will recreate each other.” Yes, will recreate each other. We are better when we do things together. We are better when we reach out to our friends. We are better when we love our enemies. We are better when we work together. For some people, it is not easy to connect. If that is the case, start with your family member. Go out and have fun with them. Don’t stay behind when they are doing things together. Pierre Tailhard de Chardin said, “The world is round so that friendship may encircle it.” Remember, “You get what you sow.” No more, no less.
