Stand Up For Yourself: The Courage To Pursue Your Dreams

‘Develop enough courage so that you can stand up for yourself and then stand up for something else.’- Maya Angelou

Who told you that? Who told you that you don’t have what it takes to live your life? Who told you that you can’t do what you want to do in your life? Who told you that you are too young to pursue your dreams? Who told you that you don’t have the right qualifications to get you through the door? Who told you that you are too old to go after what you want to achieve for yourself?

Who told you?

Look, people have the right to talk, to say anything. But they don’t have the right to change your destination.

Do not focus on what they are saying about your dreams. Instead of paying attention to what they are saying, why not get to work? Why not use your power to change your life?

You can do it. Because you can do it. Because you have what it takes to do what you want to do. Do not let fear stop you from living your life. Do not let people talk you out of your dreams.

Remember who you are. You are a child of God. You are here to please God, not to please people. You are here to represent God, not to listen to what people are saying about your dreams.

Do not worry about what people are saying. Your dreams are from God. They are not from people. They are not from your friends. They are not from your coworkers.

You are responsible for your dreams, not your friends.

If you don’t know what to do, ask God for help. According to the Bible, God says, ‘Do not fear, for I am with you.’ When in doubt, just remember that.

Remember that, with God, you are courageous enough to face your life. You are courageous enough to get things done.

Without courage, we are done. We are not going to be able to do anything big in life.

No success will come to you without you having the courage to fail, to make mistakes.

You are not going to be able to achieve greatness in your life if you do not have the courage to face your fears, if you do not have the courage to embrace failure.

You are not going to be able to create a better life for yourself if you do not have the courage to embrace creativity, if you are afraid to try new things.

If you want to keep going, if you want to add value to your life, if you want to get ahead, you must face your fears.

The question is,’Do you have the courage to face your fears?’

Face whatever is in front of you

‘If you commit wholeheartedly to your gig, and to working diligently on the sidelines with good cheer and a whole lot of follow-through, your Swiss-army-knife effectiveness will earn you a place at the table, and in the room.’– Tim Federle

What is easy? Nothing. But don’t use that as an excuse. If you commit to what you want, success is likely to happen.

Climb in your own plane and crash it today. There’s plenty of open ground in the land of Learning for another smoldering wreckage.’– Jon Acuff

Fear is real. And failure is real. If you want success, you must do what you have got to do to succeed. Don’t give in to fear. If you do, you are not going to make a difference in your life.

‘Every journey has a first step. Every dream has first destination.’– Jon Acuff

Things are not easy the first time. But success requires you to do something. Success requires work. Success is not going to come to you if you are not willing to do something.

Take the first step. Do the first thing. The more you do, the better.

Be confident

‘Confidence doesn’t have to be loud and dominant; it could be mean moving calmly and gently through your decisions, knowing that they make sense to you.’– Emma Gannon

Confidence is doing what makes sense to you. If you are okay with your decisions, you can move forward. But do not do it alone. If you want to do more things in your life, you must believe in yourself.
