To Know Others, You Must First Know Yourself

‘Knowing ourselves thoroughly is how we clean our lens, and when we clean the lens that is the self, we’re ready to receive everything that is beyond us.’- Mark Nepo

If you want to know the world, if you truly want to experience the world around you, you must first know who you, where you are, what you want, and where you are going.

‘Look with love’, not hate. Mark writes, ‘Our best chance to find the Oneness of Life is by looking with love into everything and everyone we meet.’

When you meet people, to know them really well, do not judge them. Instead of judging them, try to know them. To do that, you must first know yourself.

Say yes to yourself. Say yes to your life. When you say yes to your life, you are receating your life. According to Mark Nepo, ‘Looking with love is a form of saying yes. We give give birth to everything we look at with love, including our own soul.’

If you want to be successful in your life, in your career, and in your relationships, you must look at them with love. Why is that? Because love is life. Love is light.

Remember, where there is light, darkness disappears. When you look at yourself with love, fear disappears.

Ask For What You Need, Not What You Want

‘Asking for what we need is a practice in being present and visible that lets us become intimate with our own nature. Accepting what we’re given is a practice in being present to everything beyond us that lets us become intimate with the nature of life.’- Mark Nepo, The Endless Practice: Becoming Who You Were Born to Be

Focus on what matters to you. Do not waste your time on what you do not need. Instead, focus on what you have.

Why is that? Because it is what you have that can make you happy, not what you do not have.

If you want to bring out the best in yourself, be grateful for what you have. And more will come to you.
