In his book An Open Heart: Practicing Compassion in Everyday life, The Dalai Lama writes, ‘Self-confidence is very important. How do we achieve it?

First we must bear in mind that we are equal to all human beings and that we have the same capabilities. If we remain pessimistic, thinking that we cannot succeed, then we aren’t able to evolve.

The thought that we cannot compete with others is the first step toward failure.’

To achieve self-confidence, you first must know who you are, where you are, what you want, and how to get it.

Why We Suffer

Why do we suffer? Where does suffering come from?

According to Pema Chodron, ‘Our repetive suffering does not come from this uncomfortable sensation but from what happens next… .It comes from rejecting our own energy when it comes in a form we don’t like. It comes from continually strengthening habits of grasping and aversion and distancing ourselves. In particular it comes from our internal conversations- our judgments, embellishments, and labels ablout what’s happening.’

If you want to free yourself, you must face your reality. instead of hiding your feelings, why not focus on what you can change? Why not explore what you are feeling, what the feelings are communicating to you?

No matter what is going on in your life, if you want to learn from it, you must embrace your feelings. And do not run from your feelings; accept them.
