How To Find Your Inner Peace

“I feel within me a peace above all earthly dignities, a still and quiet conscience.”- William Shakespeare

“Being takes you beyond the polar opposites of the mind and frees you from depending on form. Even if everything were to collapse and crumble all around you, you would still feel a deep inner core of peace. You may not be happy, but you will be at peace.” – Eckhart Tolle

“Peace is to be found only within, and unless one find it there he will never find it at all. Peace lies not in the external world. It lies within one’s own soul.”- Ralph Waldo Trine

“To be at one with God is to be at peace.”- Ralph Waldo Trine

If you want to make peace with yourself, you have the power to do it. You have the power to change your life. You have the power to change your thoughts. You have the power to change the people you hang out with. You have the power to change what you do every day. You have the power to love yourself. You have the power to direct your life.

So if you want to live in peace, start living your values. It is not enough to say what your values are. It is not enough. If you want people to follow you, if you want others to see you as a leader, you must live your values. If you believe in love, live it. If you believe in hard work, live it. If you believe in life, live it. If you believe in happiness, live it. If you believe in passion, live it. If you believe in yourself, live it. Whatever you believe in, it is not enough to just say it, live it.

Deepak Chopra says, “You must learn to get in touch with the inner most essence of your being. This true essence is beyond the ego. It is fearless; it is free; it is immune to criticism; it does not fear any challenge. It is beneath no one, mystery, and enchantment.” Believe it or not, if you really mean business, if you really want to make peace with yourself, with your life, with your work, you must connect with your “inner most essence of your being.” Why is that? Because that is where you live. That is where you belong. And that is where everything is happening.

That is where you are. And if you want to live in the present, you must connect with your inner world. You must connect with your heart. Listen to your heart. Forget about what the world is telling you to do. What the world is telling you to do is not important. What is important is what you want to do for yourself. What is important is what you want to do to change your life. Do not get me wrong. It is important to listen to other people, but you must follow your heart. If not, you are not going to achieve your goals. And you have got to be patient with yourself.

Be patient. When it comes to making peace with yourself, with your soul, with your life, with the people around you, you must be patient with yourself. It is important. You must accept what is happening in your life right now. You must accept what you have right now. You must be willing to change the direction of your life. And you must open your heart to the moment, to what is happening around you, to what you are hearing, to what you are seeing, to what you are doing, even if you are not comfortable with it.

When you do that, you will have fun. You will enjoy your life. You won’t allow your past issues to steal your present away from you. Richard Carlson was right when he said, “We allow past problems and future concerns to dominate our present moments, so much so that we end up anxious, frustrated, depressed, and hopeless.” Do not do that to yourself. Wherever you are, be there. Because now is the only time you have to change your life, to make peace with yourself.
