Understanding Is Everything

Yes, understanding is everything. To know yourself, you must first understand who you are, where you are, where you are coming from, and where you are going.

And to work with other people, to know other people, you must first undertand them. Know where they are coming from, where they are, what is important to them, and where they are going.

Very important. To know people, do not judge them. Instead, create an opportunity to know them.

To know them, you must listen to them. To know them even better, you must understand them.

In the words of Paul McGee, ‘Listening to understand doesn’t mean you’ll always automatically agree with the other person’s viewpoint. It simply means you’re trying to understand their perspective. And when this happens they are then far likely to listen to your point of view.’

WORDS OF WISDOM:

If you want to be successful in life, you must ‘listen to undertand’

other people.’

It Is Not What You Know That Counts

Learning is good. To know more, you must learn more.

But if you really want to move from where you are right now to where you want to be, you must do more than just learning.

You must act. According to Paul McGee, ‘Knowledge only takes you so far. It’s when you decide to start doing something, or perhaps just as importantly stop doing something, that you begin to see the fruit of that knowledge.’

In other words, ‘It’s what you do with what you know that counts.’
