Why You Should Not Give “Less Than Your Best”

Steve Prefontaine said, “To give anything less than your best is to sacrifice the gift.” When things are difficult, it is easier to just give up than to continue. It is easier to stop doing than to start doing again. It is easier to stop living than to start thinking again.

Whatever you are doing, no matter how difficult, do not settle for less, do not give less than your best. Don’t!

Instead of giving up, instead of focusing on what you cannot do, instead of doing less than your best, why not focus on opportunity. If you want to improve yourself, real improvement, do not focus on problems, focus on opportunity.

We grow when we challenge ourselves. But before you do something, assess your own strengths and weaknesses. It is important. It saves time. If you can do it, do it. But if you cannot do it, then don’t waste your time. Because failure comes from doing what we don’t know how to do. As Thomas Paine once said, “When it become necessary to do anything, the whole heart and soul should go into the measure, or not attempt it.”

If what you are going for is not for you, don’t go for it. If you don’t feel good about it, don’t do it. If it is for you, then you must do it with all your might. Remember, if you want to be successful in your own life, you MUST put your whole heart and soul into what you do. If not, it won’t work.

Why You Need You

Who are you? What are you doing here? Are you here for you? Whether you know why you are here or not, you are here for yourself. You are here for you. Because if you are not here for yourself, no one is going to be here for you. You need you than others need you. So why do you need you?

You need you to…

Improve your life. Because if you do not improve yourself, no one is going to improve you. It is your responsibility to take care of yourself. Whatever you can do to make your life better, you must do it. Do not wait for anyone to do it for you. Abraham Lincoln once said, “The way for a young man to rise is to improve himself in every way the can…” If you have the courage to do what you fear, you will improve. You will grow. You will live a meaningful life.

You need you to…

Figure out how to live. It is not enough to be alive. It is your responsibility to know why you are here, what you are doing here, where you are going with your life, and if you are progressing. Remember, you are not here to exist; you are here to live your life. To do that, you must first figure out how to live. Abraham Lincoln said, “If we could first know where we are, and whether we are tending, we could then better judge what to do, and how to do it.” Wherever you are going, assess where you are before you make any move.

You need you to…

Change your life. You need you to figure out what you want to do with your life. Remember that you are responsible for changing your life. No one can change you. It is you who can change you. If you do not do it now, when are you going to do it? If you want things to change, you must do it for you. That is why you need you. According Jack Canfield, “It’s up to you to make the change, to do something different. The world doesn’t owe you anything. You have to create it.” Yes, that is why you need you. Because no one can create you. Only you can create you. Why not now?

You need you to…

Challenge you. Life full of different challenges. If you are not for you, if you are not here for you, if you are not doing what you are doing for you, you won’t be able to face life. And to win you must challenge yourself. Richard Branson says, “If you challenge yourself, you will grow. Your life will change. Your outlook will be positve. ” So if you want to grow, if you want to be successful, you must be there for you. You must do whatever you are doing for you, not for others.
