Do Not Let These 3 Musts Hold You Back

Words are powerful. They can make you, help you, or destroy you. You must stop using negative words to describe yourself, your life, your career. Albert Ellis was right when he said, “There are three musts that hold us back: I must do well. You must treat me well. And the world must be easy.”

Live your life. It is your life. Use good words to tell your story. Use positive words to tell your story. Do not be afraid to tell your own story. If you don’t tell your own story, who will?

Be grateful for what you have. Stop paying attention to what you don’t have. We don’t see what we have because we are searching for what is not there. Searching for what is not there is like chasing a butterfly. It will never be there. Focus on what you already have. Maintain it. Nurture it. Because if you don’t maintain and respect what you have, they will disappear.

“Be thankful for what you have; you’ll end up having more. If you concentrate on what you don’t have, you will never, ever have enough.”- Oprah Winfrey

Don’t waste your time on what is not there. What is not there is not there. Focus on what is there. Focus on your life. Focus on your career. Focus on your growth. Focus on your health. Focus on your relationships (with yourself and others). The more you focus on what is necessary, the more you will attract it into your life. In the words of Oprah Winfrey, “Be thankful for what you have; you’ll end up having more. If you concentrate on what you don’t have, you will never, ever have enough.” You want more things, right? Then be thankful for what you already have.
