What you cannot give yourself, don’t expect it from other people. If you cannot give yourself love, don’t expect love from other people. If you cannot make yourself happy, if you cannot make yourself a better person, if you cannot design your own life, if you cannot live your life on your own terms, don’t expect it from others. If you do, you are going to be disappointed. According to Meher Baba, “Happiest is he who expects no happiness from others. Love delights and glories in giving, not receiving. So learn to love and give, and not to expect anything from others.”
