Why You Should Promote Yourself

If you do not show people what you can do, people won’t know. If you want people to know what you are selling, what you can offer, you must promote yourself. You must put yourself out there. Above all, you must be vulnerable.

In his book Awaken Your Genius: Escape Conformity, Ignite Creativity and become Extraordinary, Ozan Varol writes, ‘If you don’t promote your book, the readers won’t come. If you don’t promote your product or your service, the customers won’t come. If you don’t promote yourself, the job offers won’t come.’

‘If you want people to know you, to know who you really are, you must promote yourself.’

They won’t come to you. You have got to leave your comfort zone. Do not let fear cripple your dreams. Whatever you have, promote it. Nothing is perfect. Remember, according to Ozan Varol, ‘Self-promotion is not an act of shame. It’s an act of love- for others who want what you created.’

‘Saying no to your boss is especially tricky, and the word ‘no’ won’t appear in your answer, ever. That doesn’t mean you can’t negotiate something other than yes. If you are overwhelmed with tasks, it is your responsibility to discuss this with your boss before accepting a new one.’- Michael J. Tougias

‘Working in your stand-out zone requires recognizing when putting in more hours stop being an asset and starts becoming a liability.’– Sara Ross
