How Smart Leaders Lead

Smart leaders are learners. They are great teachers. They don’t tell their people what to do. They show them how it is done.

And they are very good at saying, ‘I don’t know.’ That is what makes them different from other leaders.

According to Jo Owen, smart leaders ‘never accept excuses and never accept ‘no’.

They ‘step up, not back, at moments of crisis.’

Smart leaders know that ‘you cannot have high performance and low motivation.’

Smart leaders know that ‘when you accept excuses, you accept failure.’

That ‘the world is not changed by reasonable people.’

‘All leaders are sale people.’

‘What people want is not always what they say.’

‘Ideas are good, but action is better.’

‘Followers, like leaders, dislike surprises.’
