Think, But Don’t Overthink

Thinking is good. It is the beginning of everything. But if you do it too much, then it becomes your number one enemy to your growth.

Because thinking too much is not doing too much. Thinking too much is not going to change your life if you don’t take your thinking to your own next level.

Don’t get me wrong. It is good to think about things. It is good to think. If you are not thinking, you are not living. If you are not thinking, you are not growing.

If you are not thinking, you are not doing. If you are not thinking, other people are doing your thinking for you.

When that happens, you are not living your life for yourself; you are living for other people. You are chasing their dreams.

Do not let that be you. Because if you are not willing to face your own thoughts, then you are not going to make it past where you are right now. You are going to get stuck in your self-designed rut.

Yes, before you do anything, small or big, make sure that you do your homework, that you ask the right questions. Do not just into it. Ask yourself, ‘Is what I am thinking about even possible to do?’

If you are convinced that you have what it takes to make it happen, then get to work. You will get better at it, but not in the beginning.

Because greatness takes time. You can’t rush mastery. To be good at anything, you have got to be patient. You have got to trust the process. And you have got to trust yourself. Because if you do not believe in yourself, no one is going to believe in you.

You cannot push yourself to achieve greatness. You have got to do the work, the difficult work, the boring work.

If you want to achieve your potential, you have got to stop thinking, start doing. If not, you are going to stay where you are right now, today, this moment, for the rest of your time on earth.

Do not let that be you. Because you are better than that.

What Great Leaders Do

Leadership is self-leadership. To lead other people, you must first lead yourself. To develop other leaders, you must first put yourself through it.

You must develop the person before you begin developing the leader.’

It’s very difficult for people to rise up if their leader refuses to put the wind of development under their wings.’

Your ability to develop others is dependent on what you know and what you know how to do.’

The only way for any person to learn leadership is to lead. Leading isn’t a theoretical exercise.’

If you want to develop leaders, you need to encourage them to begin practicing their leadership and giving them a place to do it.’

When you develop leaders, you need to prepare them today to seize opportunities in the future based on their giftedness.’

When you develop leaders, the most important thing you can do is let them know what you’re thinking and why.’

As you develop leaders, help them to cultivate their creative thinking ability. Encourage them to push the boundaries of what’s possible.’

When people get to weigh in on their development, they more readily buy in to owning their personal growth progress.’

If you will sweat with your people, they can handle the heat.’

When people understand that you’re in it with them, they’re more likely to engage with you.’
