You Are Not Alone

‘When we center our attention solely on ourselves, our heart-mind becomes narrow, mistakenly believing that we are isolated, independent, and solid.

We forget that we are interconnected with other people, animals, the environment,

and our communities.

To have compassion and loving-kindness is to recognize and strengthen our connection with other living beings.’

– Phakchok Rinpoche & Sophie Wu, Awakening Dignity: A Guide to Living a Life of Deep Fulfillment

The Benefits Of Compassion

According to Janice Marturano, ‘Compassion allows us to understand the suffering around us as belonging to everyone, and our own suffering as a part of who we are that can be acknowledged and attended to, with kindness and gentleness.’

Suffering is the foundation for success. Nothing happens without discomfort. If you are not willing to make yourself uncomfortable, you are not willing to get what you want.

Whatever it is that you are facing right now in your life, it is part of your journey. Enjoy it!

‘Compassion opens the door to connection between your mind and heart.’

If you want to truly understand where others are coming from, what they have been through, and what they are going through, you need your mind and heart.

‘Compassion practice can also help us form a new relationship with those who are difficult for us.’

People are different. No two human beings are the same. If you want to get along with those who are difficult for you, you must find a way to connect with them.
