‘A Better You’ Versus ‘A Perfect You’

Let us start with these questions: Are you working hard to improve yourself? Or are you working hard to perfect yourself?

Know it or not, that is what we do every day. We just want to be perfect. We want to look great every day. We don’t want to grow, but to be perfect.

If that is you, you still have a long way to go. You still have a lot of work to do. Why is that? Because, my friend, what you are seeking is not possible. Because what you are looking for is exhausting.

It is not possible because we are human beings. We are not here to be perfect, but to grow, to learn. It is also not possible to achieve perfection because when we are perfect, there is no room for growth anymore. Then we start to decline.

But if you are for growth, then you are on your OWN right track. You have made the right decision. You have chosen the right path.

Why is that? Because life is about growth, not about perfection. When we are growing, we are learning. When we are growing, we are adding value to ourselves. And when we are growing, we are chasing our better selves. And that is what the world IS against. The world wants you to be who you are not, not who you really are.

If you want to be you, to be who you are, to create yourself, you MUST chase a better you, not a perfect you.

You are chasing a better you when you are trying things that you have not done before, when you are not scared to take a stand. You are chasing a better you when you are questioning your own assumptions, when you are challenging your old beliefs.

You are chasing a better you when you are asking the right questions about the world around you.

You are chasing a better you when you are not scared of making mistakes. And you are chasing a better you when you are comfortable with who you are, not who the world wants you to be.

A perfect you, on the other hand, is not possible. You are not going to be able to reach perfection. No one can reach perfection.

You are chasing a perfect you when you don’t admit your failures, when you are not comfortable talking about your failures.

You are chasing a perfect you when you think you are better than other people, when you are the smartest person in the room.

You are chasing a perfect you when you are not interested in learning anymore. And you are chasing a perfect you when you don’t seek help from other people.

Which side are you on? Whichever side you are on, to grow, you must challenge yourself. And to challenge yourself, you must be willing to make mistakes.

Know this: challenges make growth possible. Perfection makes growth impossible.

The question is, Are you chasing a perfect you? Or are you chasing a better you?’
