You are the only one who can make yourself happy. But it is not your responsibility to make other people happy.
What does it really mean to take responsibility for one’s life?
Responsibility is facing what you do not want to face. Responsibility is doing what you are afraid to do. Responsibility is taking risks to change your life. It is looking after yourself. It is conquering yourself. Taking responsibility for your life is not an event. It is a process.
You can do it. You are the only one who can do it for you. When you take responsibility for your life, things will work for you, not against you. No matter how busy you are, do not forget to look after yourself. Do not forget to take responsibility for your life.
If you don’t do it for you, you are going to be left behind. Do you want to be left behind? If you do not want to be left behind, here are some strategies that will help you:
Take responsibility for your actions
Do not complain. You have the power to choose your life. You have the power to change the negative things that you have been telling yourself. You have the power to choose your career. Since you have the power to choose other things, do you have the same power to choose yourself? Yes, you can choose yourself. You can choose your life.
Moliere said, “It is not only what we do, but also what we do not do, for which we are accountable.” If you want to be different, if you want to become what you were created to be, you must take responsibility for yourself.
Challenge yourself
You cannot grow yourself without work. If you want to grow yourself, you must not wait for other people to do everything for you. They can’t. And they won’t. Why is that? Because they have their own issues to deal with. As Billy Graham Put it, “Only those who want everything done for them are bored.”
If you don’t want to be bored, you must stretch yourself. You must push yourself. You must face what other people don’t want to face. You must do what other people don’t want to do. You must step out of your comfort zone. You must be comfortable with yourself. Because if you are not comfortable with yourself, you can’t stretch yourself.
Be courageous
It takes courage to do everything. So if you want to take responsibility for your life, you have got to face your demons. Do not be timid. Be bold. Live fearlessly. Do not let your past failures stop you from taking responsibility for your life.
No matter what, do not condemn your life. Always celebrate yourself. If you condemn yourself, you lose your soul. Be bold enough to take responsibility for your life. Be bold enough to say, enough is really enough.
Whatever you want to do, do not fear to do it. Be bold. According to Billy Graham, “Courage is contagious. When a brave man takes a stand, the spines of others are often stiffened.” When you take a stand, your fears will disappear.
Accept your disappointments
Richard Branson says, “Do not be embarrassed by your failures, learn from them and start again.”If you want to grow, do not be embarrassed by your disappointments. They are going to happen. You can’t stop them from happening. But do not let them stop your life. Do not waste a minute not being true to yourself.
If you are making mistakes, you are growing. You are learning. You are changing. Friedrich Shiller said, “Disappointments are to the soul what a thunderstorm is to the air.” Accept disappointments and you will be happy with yourself. The question is, Do you have the courage to accept disappointments?
“Dare to be wise!”
If you want to take responsibility for your life, you must have the courage to tell yourself the truth. You must have the courage to love your life, no matter what. You must have the courage to live your life on your own terms. You must have the courage to face your fears. You must have the courage to walk away from those who are not for you.
If you can do it, you can grow. Friedrich Schiller said, “Dare to be wise! Energy and spirit is needed to overcome the obstacles which indolence of nature as well as cowardice of heart oppose to our instruction.”
