Your Life Is A Reflection Of Many Choices You Have Made

Steve Maraboli writes, “Your life is a reflection of many choices you have made at the innumerable amount of choice-points you’ve crossed.” Life is about choices. Don’t worry about the bad choices you have made in the past. You can’t change the past, but you can change your future. You can change your future by paying attention to what you are doing right now. What you are doing right now is shaping your future.

You can change your life today. Don’t let your bad choices hold you back. Don’t let your past mistakes hold you back. If you want to change your life, you must change yourself. You can change your life by taking advantage of the opportunities around you. “Don’t sleepwalk through your life”. If you delay yourself, the opportunity will not be there for you. If you want to catch it, you must wake up. You must not sleepwalk through life.

Once you have made up your mind to pursue something, don’t think too much about it. Because if you spend your entire life thinking about it, you will cripple yourself. Once you know what you want for yourself, for your life, for your family, then make your decision and then do it. Don’t wait. Don’t wait for the perfect time to do something. There is no such thing as a perfect time. If you want to do something, if you really mean it, do it today.

If you want to get something done in your life, you have got to do it yourself. You have got to follow your path. You have got to do your own thing. Allen Ginsberg said, “Follow your inner moonlight; don’t hide the madness.” If you wait for someone else to do it for you, you are going to wait forever. Make up your mind for yourself. And you will get what you want.

How To Separate Yourself From Your Past Mistakes

Mistakes are valuable if you do four things with it: recognize it, admit it, learn from it, and forget it.”- John Wooden

If you want to be a happy person, stop thinking about your past mistakes. It is okay to make mistakes. People who have made it in life have made significant mistakes. They are not afraid to tell you about their mistakes. They are proud of them. Let us be honest here. If you really want to do what you want to do in your life, you must learn to be VERY comfortable with mistakes.

If you are not making mistakes, you are not trying enough. You are not risking enough to make it in life. You are not risking enough to move out of your comfort zone. It is not your comfort zone; it is your dream-killing zone.

In your comfort zone, you are comfortable, but you are not growing. If you want to make yourself happy, you must get yourself in the game of life. You must learn how to take risks. If not, you are only wasting your precious time. Don’t waste your time. As the old saying goes, “If you waste your time, you waste your life.” Don’t let that happen to you!

People don’t want to make mistakes. As a result, they don’t try anything. My question for you is, “If you don’t try something new, something exciting and educative, something challenging, how do you expect to grow?” If you think you can grow without work, if you think you can grow without taking calculated risks, if you think you can grow without leaving your comfort zone, you are just kidding yourself!

When you make a mistake, be happy. It is the ONLY way forward. If you want to move forward, you must separate yourself from your past mistakes. Can you do that for yourself?
