Are You Your Paycheck?

Life is more than your paycheck. You are not here to pursue your paycheck. You are here to develop yourself.

Because your life is more than your paycheck. Yes, you are more than your paycheck.

But to get more, you must develop yourself. According to Alexis Rockley, ‘… you get to decide which path you take next. You also get to be messy. You get to change your mind. You have permission to change completely, many times over, because every single living thing is in a state of continual change and transformation.’

Is it going to be easy? No, but we need it. We can’t avoid it. If we want to grow, if we want to move to the next level, we must embrace change.

‘We are change. Change is sloppy. Life is a constant unfurling of inconsistent moments and unpredictable messages.’

‘Allow yourself the room to transform, over and over, for the entirety of your life. Stop believing your paycheck reflects your inner value. Stop worrying about your inconsistent brand messaging. You’re not a commodity. You’re not a brand.’

You are you. You are not your paycheck. You are not who people say you are. You are who God says you are.

To know the real you, follow God, not people.

Why Not The Real You?

Follow your path. Do not pretend to be who you are not. Be who you are, no matter what.

… your life path will be erratic. You will pivot sharply from one thing to the next. You do not have to look good ‘on paper.’There will be weird gaps in your resume that are difficult to explain, and awkward silences during small talk with strangers about what you ‘do’ or how you got ‘here.’ Your life doesn’t need to make for a good podcast interview. You don’t have to maintain a ‘presence,’ online or off. You don’t need to ‘delete’ old versions of yourself by pretending you were never that person.’ – Alexis Rockley

Be you. People want to see the real you. The world wants to see the real you. Why not?
