If you want to get better at what you do, the fastest way to get there is to help another person get better. Remember, you are the only person responsible for your life. If you do not do it for yourself, no one will.
Embrace what you do not know.
Sharon Blackie writes, ‘Embrace mystery. don’t be afraid of what you don’t know.’ Try to know what you don’t know. If you don’t know something, it is an opportunity for you to explore the world around you. If you don’t face it, you will never know it.
Push yourself
In the words of Jennifer Cohen, ‘If you want that bigger, better life, push yourself off the wall you’ve been sitting on for far too long and practice habits that will lead you to a bold identity.’ We get better when we challenge ourselves, when we have the courage to get out of our comfort zones. That is what it takes to grow. It is not an easy thing to do. But if you do not challenge yourself, if you do not push yourself out of your comfort zone, you will never grow.
Take accountability for your where you are going.
If you do not take charge of your growth, who do you think is going to do it for you? No one. If you are waiting for people to lead you, you will never arrive. According to Dave Gordin, ‘If you are willing to do the work and commit to taking accountability for your future, you will achieve the lasting success you want.’ The question is, ‘Are you willing to do the work? Are you willing to take charge of your future?’ If you are, then success is likely to happen.
