I know who I am. I do not know who you are. But if you are not you, who are you? One of our purposes in life is to be who we were created to be.
If we are not who we were created to be, who are we? It is important to be yourself. It is also important to know who you are. It is even more important to know who you are not.
You cannot achieve success in life if you don’t know yourself. You cannot be happy in life if you don’t know yourself. You cannot move forward in life if you don’t know yourself.
“If I won’t be myself, who will?” – Alfred Hitchcock
It is very difficult to be ourselves in a world where people want us to be something else. They want us to do what they say. They want us to live their lives. They want us to look like them. Believe me, if you really want to be yourself, you MUST have the courage to stand against all forms of imitation.
Imitation is a disease. Imitation prevents you from knowing your real self. The world does not need imitation. The world needs original people.
Why is it important to know yourself, to be yourself, and to know who you are not?
You will not waste your time doing the wrong things if you know yourself. But you will pursue the wrong dreams if you don’t know who you are not. You will be with the wrong people if you don’t know who you are not. You will be in the wrong relationships if you don’t know who you are not. You will focus on the wrong things if you don’t know who you are not.
It does not matter what you are doing now. What matters is, “Does it represent who you are?” If it does, continue to pursue it. But if it does not, it is time to look for something that will make you who you really are.
You can be your real self if you want to. You are the maker of your life. No one else, but you.
