In order to enjoy your work, your employer has a significant role to play. Your employer has to create to create a cooperative, fun, caring, collaborative, innovative environment where people can grow. Without these conditions, it will be difficult for you to enjoy your work.

Apart from what your employer can do to help you enjoy your work, you can also help yourself by doing these things.

Focus on your work. If you want to enjoy your work, you have to focus on what you are doing. Ask great questions that will reveal the hidden secrets to your success. Ask questions that will help you better understand your work. If you think you are not doing well, take a break. Taking a break will help you to re-focus on your work.

Focus on your growth. You have to grow to enjoy your work. If you are not growing, if you are not adding values to your life, you are just wasting your time. You are just putting in time. To grow at work, you have to strategically choose assignments that will stretch you, not same old same old.

Help others at work. Whether you work alone or not, help your colleagues. If you help your colleagues, they will help you when you run into trouble. They will share vital information with you.

Control yourself. You work with different personalities at work. If you want to enjoy working with them, you must first understand their working styles. Find productive ways to connect with people. If you can’t connect with the people you work with, you cannot work with them. If you are not close to the people you work with, the more difficult it is for you to relate to them.

What does it mean to lead from the front? Why do leaders need to lead from the front, not from behind?

Leading from the front is attractive to employees. They want to see their boss leading by example. It builds leadership trust. It creates an environment of respect.

As a leaders, a good leader, you cannot motivate your people without leading from the front. You cannot build trust without leading from the front. You must lead by example. You must show your people the behavior you want to see in your organization. Reward what you want to see more of. It means doing exactly what you want your people to. In other words, you are walking the talk. If not, your people will not be motivated to do anything.

Don’t ask your people to do what you will not do yourself. You must work harder than they do, and they will repeat it. That is what leading from the front really means.

Once they see you (their boss) in action, they will do the same. They don’t want to let the team down. Stay in front, your people will join you.

But when you lead from behind, you are asking your employees to do what you will not do yourself. Even if they manage to do it, they will not be happy. They will resent you, and productivity will suffer.

It is all about motivation. If you want to motivate your employees, respect them, do what you want them to do for you, walk the talk, support them, encourage them, train them, and be present. They will do anything for you.
