Resilience. Great leaders don’t give up. They set realistic goals and follow through. As Winston Churchill once said, “Never, never, never, give up.” Great leaders stick to their dreams. Whether it is difficult or not, they stick to their games.
Learner. Great leaders are great learners. They learn from everyone, and from everywhere. Leonardo da Vinci said, “Learning never exhausts the mind.” Picasso also said: “I am always doing that which I cannot do, in order that I may learn how to do it.” Great leaders learn something new on a daily basis. They pay attention to strange things that will help them become better leaders.
Humor. Great leaders have great sense of humor. They understand the benefits of humor. Lord Byron said, “Always laugh when you can; it is cheap medicine.”
Motivate themselves and others. Great leaders are great motivator. They motivate themselves. They also motivate their people to be and do the best they can. They motivate their people to get the most important things done. As leadership expert John Maxwell said, “Leaders must be close enough to relate to others, but far enough ahead to motivate them.”
Help people grow. Great leaders grow themselves and their people. They focus on what their people need to become better leaders. They know that if they want to grow- personally and professionally, they MUST invest in their people. People want to grow. As Zig Ziglar once said, “You can get everything in life you want if you will just help enough other people get what they want.”
