The Power Of Doing What Others Don’t Want To Do

Man Carrying Gray Pipe

There is power in doing what others don’t want to do. If you have a job offer, no matter how terrible, don’t reject it. Do it. There is power in it.

Take the courage to do what other people are not willing to do. If you do, you will have the chance to grow, you will have the chance to explore the opportunities, and you will have the chance to be the leader, not a follower.

Remember, there is power in taking the unpopular road. No matter how scary, take it.

Normality

If you have been doing the same thing over and over again, you are a member of “the normality group.” On the other hand, if you have been doing things differently, if you have been experimenting, testing, and implementing ideas, you are a member of “the abnormality group.”

Normality, for the purpose of this article, is doing the same thing for 100 years. It is getting stuck in a dead-end job. It is not doing what will help you to change your life. It is playing a safe game. It is not taking calculated risks. It is going with the flow. It is going with the crowd. Diane Grant famously said, “It’s better to work alone, than with a crowd going in the wrong direction.”

Normality is normal, popular, regular, constant, no change, common. It is what everyone is doing. In a normality group, the tasks are normal, and the results are also normal. The tasks are not challenging enough to get you in the game. As a result, you walk away not learning anything. You will walk away not adding anything significant to your life.

Don’t get me wrong. It is okay to do the same thing for 100 years and get the same results. But it is not okay to do the same thing over and over and over again and expect a different result. That is the opposite of normality, which is abnormality. If you are stuck in a routine job, you know what to expect when you get to work. Albert Einstein said, “If you keep doing the same thing over and over and over again and you expect a different result, that is the beginning of insanity.” If you want a different result, you MUST do things differently. If you keep doing the same thing, you will keep getting the same result- normal results. If you want to change your result, change your action.

To get a different result, try to do the “abnormal.” Don’t follow the crowd. If you follow the crowd, you will end up in an empty field- a place where nothing is growing. Try the abnormal (the unpopular) route and see what will happen. As Vincent Van Gogh said, “Normality is a paved road; it is comfortable to work, but no flower grow on it.” You can’t get extraordinary results by doing normal things. You get extraordinary results by doing extraordinary things.

Normality is a dream killer. You will start to attract great things into your life if you have the gut to reject normality. If you don’t have the gut to reject normality, don’t expect extraordinary things to happen to you. Because you can’t grow more than you know. You can’t earn more than you know.

The people you are secretly admiring have all rejected normality, and they have long embraced abnormality. So, if you want to change your life, if you want to change your situation, stop doing the ordinary things. Stop wasting your time doing the same old things over and over again. Nothing special is going to happen. You will get what you have been getting- normal results.
